Crystalline Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia 2013 Debut for Staple the Label

Staple the label made its Australian Fashion Week debut with a sophisticated show creatively directed by fashion industry genius, Michelle Jank.

Utilising the buzz of Fashion Week to unearth its Spring 13 collection ‘Crystalline’, Staple the label opened the show with David Jones ambassador Montana Cox, followed by a covetable lineup of faces such as Olivia Thorton, Nicole Pollard, Jemma Baines, Amanda Ware and Lauren Moody.

Joining Jank to produce arguably one of the best shows of the week was an enviable creative team with Hair Director Daren Borthwick, Makeup Director Kellie Stratton and Show Producer Jack Bedwani.

Wearing silver metallic wigs, Daren Borthwick created a futuristic factory girl look with an androgynous Scandinavian vibe. The skin was kept clean and fresh with Kellie Stratton applying translucent makeup and touches of silver to complement the theatrical space-age tailoring and grunge face jewellery.

Clear perspex sheets held by industrial heavy chains hung from the rafters dividing the runway and provided a dramatic finish to an already impeccable show.

In a fashion week first, David Jones has partnered exclusively with Staple the label on a ‘Runway to Retail’ initiative that will see bespoke pieces featured in the runway show, hand selected by Michelle Jank available to purchase following the show online at www.davidjones.com.au.

On the collaboration David Jones says “This is a fantastic opportunity to involve the consumer in an event like fashion week. To expose them to the exciting creativity of our young Australian designers.
